Islay from Jura

Travelling south from Iona, the islands of Jura and Islay had to be visited. I was making my way back home via Glasgow but had promised that I would visit these last two islands en route.

Jura is an untamed island renowned for its soaring mountains, whisky, wildlife & swirling whirlpools.

The view across to this island is spectacular in August. The early evening light as it hits the water dissected by the long, dark landmass of Islay Here was another dark horizon, a horizontal black line severing the space between sea and sky. I and forever searching horizon lines to recreate in the studio.
